Canton, NY – Roody the Roo has advanced to the Final 4 of the 2016 Mascot Madness after he defeated Ram-bo the Ram from Farmingdale State in the Elite 8.

Roody took down Ram-bo in the voting by a mark of 53.15% to 46.85% to advance to the Final Four. SUNY Canton's mascot advanced past Oakie the Acorn in the Sweet 16, 54.92% to 45.08%

For the fourth consecutive year mascot madness is back, a tournament that helps us find out who New York's favorite mascot is. This gives students, alumni, staff and the community an opportunity to participate and send in their votes. Thirty-nine mascots across New York State are partaking in this contest to see who will win the title.

The Final Four started Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 12 p.m. and voting will end Friday, March 25, 2016 at 12 p.m. which narrows the field down to the championship match-up. We need your votes to help us beat Stonybrook's Wolfie.

ROUND 3 RESULTS                                  VOTE FOR ROODY IN THE FINAL 4!

We started with a total of 39 mascots from across New York State in the running to win the coveted title, including some first time participants. All mascots were randomly placed into 4 SUNY regions and ranked by the number of athletic teams each mascot represents, which determined which mascots were competing against each other in each round. We now enter into Round 4, or the Final Four. Our remaining mascots are now battling to see who plays for the championship and the right to be named the new favorite mascot in New York. Rounds one and two combined for 19,000 votes. In Round 3, we saw more than 16,000 votes cast for the remaining competitors.

* Voting for the 2016 Mascot Madness tournament will be conducted with additional verification. Each voter will need to supply an email address with which they will be sent a confirmation email to submit their votes. This will allow the voting to be reviewed for consistency in a direct way. All votes will be limited to one per 12 hours, after which a user can resubmit a new vote in the same game again. Email addresses will not be used for marketing or addition to any mailing lists, but simply for voter verification. All addresses will be deleted at the conclusion of the tournament.
