Delhi, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team jumped out to a 21 point halftime lead and never looked back earning a 98-75 victory against host SUNY Delhi on Sunday.
The Roos (19-3, .864) have the most wins in a regular season since the 1986-87 team went 20-7. This is SUNY Canton's best win percentage at the conclusion of the regular season in nearly 30 years since the 1977-78 team went 24-3 (.889).
Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY),
Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) and
Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) combined for 40 points in the opening half as SUNY Canton took a commanding 61-40 lead into intermission. The Roos shot 58 percent from the field and 38 percent from long distance in the opening 20 minutes.
Pickett paced SUNY Canton with 10 points after intermission as they kept the foot on the gas pedal en route to the convincing victory. The Roos shot 54 percent from the field (38-for-71) in the contest, while picking up 15 steals.
Pickett led the way with 24 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Fletcher posted 21 points and seven rebounds, while Annorh dished out six assists to go with his 18 points.
Rashad Richardson (Rochester, NY) recorded seven points, while
Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) and
Kevin Baksh (Queens, NY) chipped in six points apiece, as 12 different players saw action in the contest.
This concludes the regular season for the men's basketball team. They will await the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) selection show on Wednesday to see if they receive a bid into the postseason tournament.
