Sayer Scores Game-High 19 Points at Cobleskill

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team made a late comeback but fell just short 57-51 on the road at SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday evening.

Trailing 44-33 entering the fourth quarter the Roos trimmed the deficit to just three at 54-51 with 1:19 remaining after Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) hit a pair of free throws. The Fighting Tigers went 3-for-4 from the line in the final 48 seconds to seal the victory.

The teams were extremely even in the opening half as SUNY Canton took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter of play. Cobleskill battled back in the second quarter to take a slim 24-23 lead at intermission.

The Tigers doubled up the Roos 20-10 in the third quarter to take an 11 point advantage into the final period.
Sayer led all scorers with 19 points, while Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) added 11 points and seven rebounds. Caseylnn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) chipped in eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY) stuffed the stat sheet with five points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Shelby Preston paced the hosts with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Morgan Bullis added a double-double of her own with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cobleskill received a big lift from its bench outscoring the SUNY Canton reserves 36-8 and the Tigers also held a 28-14 edge in points in the paint.
