Saltus Scores Game-High 23 v. Saints

Canton, NY – Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) scored a game-high 23 points but visiting St. Lawrence University used a strong third quarter to earn a 67-57 victory Thursday evening on Stan Cohen Court.

Both teams struggled to score early as the teams combined for just 20 points in the opening 10 minutes tied at 10-0. St. Lawrence led by as many as five at 19-14 with 6:13 left in the half. The Roos held multiple two point advantages.

Saltus led all players with 13 points in the opening half, while Meghan Hynes paced the Saints with eight points. The opening half featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes.

The Saints (2-5) outscored the Roos 21-9 in the third quarter to turn a three point halftime lead into a 15-point advantage after three quarters. Canton (1-7) outscored St. Lawrence 20-15 over the final 10 minute period for the 67-57 final.

Saltus led all players with 23 points and five steals shooting 11-for-20 from the field in 39 minutes. Jenifer Morgan-Aubin (Hartford, NY) chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, while Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) added 11 points and eight rebounds despite a cold shooting night.

???????Shayna Davner paced three Saints in double figures with 16 points and seven rebounds. Hynes and Cara Waterson added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Both teams struggled shooting less than 37 percent from the field. The Saints held a 49-38 advantage on the glass but committed three more turnovers (21) than the Roos (18). St. Lawrence received a huge lift from their bench outscoring the Canton reserves, 35-10.
