Oswego, NY – Kaylah Menchaca (Oregon, OH) scored her first collegiate goal but No. 7 nationally-ranked Oswego State earned a 6-1 win on Saturday afternoon at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
The Lakers netted a pair of first period goals off the sticks of Alexa Aramburu and Kendall Appelbaum as they held a 14-3 shots edge and 2-0 lead on the scoreboard after one.
Oswego State received second period scores from Andrea Noss, Alyssa Brockmann and Jacquelin White to open up a 5-0 advantage after 40 minutes of play. Olivia Ellis extended the Laker lead to six at the 2:20 mark of the third period as Aramburu picked up her second assist and third point of the night.
Menchaca got the Roos on the board three minutes later when tallied a short-handed goal, her first career tally.
Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) made 34 saves for the Roos, while Amber Samonek turned aside 11 shots for Oswego State. The Lakers were 1-for-6 on the power play, while the Roos went 0-for-3 with the skater advantage.
