CHS BOX SCORE
Canton, NY – Josh Sova (Oswego, NY) gave the Roos an early lead but Jory Mullin and Nick Perruccio scored two goals each to give visiting Neumann University a 4-1 win on Friday evening in the Roos House.
The Roos (1-8-1) got on the board first at 3:19 of the first period on the power play.
Ben Beasley (Burlington, ON) fed the puck to
Vili-Jesper Koivula (Pinsio, Finland) at the point who ripped a shot off the right post. The puck rolled across the front of the crease and Sova was on the doorstep at the far post to put home his third goal of the season.
Neumann evened the game at one apiece less than two minutes later as
Michael Cerasuolo (Montreal, QC) struggled to clear the puck and Mullin picked off his pass and buried his team-leading 12th goal of the season. The Knights held a 16-9 shots edge as the teams skated to first intermission tied at one.
The Knights (8-3-0) took their first lead of the game 2:07 into the second period when Perrucio redirected a Shane Topf shot into the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Thomas Mansbridge was also credited with an assist on the play. Perrucio scored his second goal of the game just 18 seconds later off passes from Topf and Jake Davidson. Neumann held a 29-14 edge in shots after two periods.
Neumann extended its lead to three when a Roos defenseman turned the puck over in the neutral zone and Mullin netted his second goal of the game and 13th of the season, this one coming short-handed.
Cerasuolo made 16 saves while surrendering three goals over the first 22:25, while
Austin Washkurak (Oakville, ON) turned aside 15 shots over the final 37:35. Matt Gibney made 19 saves for the Knights.
