CHS BOX SCORE
Salem, MA – Tess Adams (Calgary, AB) and
Jessica Pele (Estevan, SK) each scored once and assisted another goal and
Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) stopped all 25 shots she faced as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team earned a 4-0 victory against host Salem State University on Saturday.
The Roos improve to 4-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference play, while the Vikings drop to 0-4-0 overall and within CHC competition.
Pele got the scoring started 14:22 into the opening period on her fourth goal of the season off a pass from
Sydney Jordan (Prince George, BC). The Roos dominated the opening period holding a 21-4 edge in shots.
The Roos doubled their lead at 7:47 of the middle period when Pele found
Brittany Miner (Plattsburgh, NY) who slid the puck past the right pad of Katherine Crane. Salem State held a 13-8 advantage in shots in the frame but 13 saves from Susac gave the Roos a 2-0 lead after two.
Canton added a pair of insurance goals just more than two minutes apart as
Tessa Dobson (Moose Factory, ON) slotted her second of the season off passes from Adams and
Mariah McCue (Belleville, ON). Adams added an unassisted marker, her fourth of the season, to seal the 4-0 win.
Susac made 25 saves in her first collegiate shutout, while Crane turned aside 38 shots for the Vikings. The two teams' penalty kill units combined to go 9-for-9 on the night.
The women's hockey team is off until November 29th when they host SUNY Potsdam at 7 p.m. in the Roos House. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on
