Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team won a pair of matches in the Canton Classic against visiting Elmira College and Keuka College on Saturday in the Roos House.

The Roos (11-9) defeated the Soaring Eagles (4-4) in five sets 3-2 (25-16, 26-24, 14-25, 23-25, 15-11) before earning a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-15) win v. the Wolves (9-5)

Match 1 – Box Score
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) led the Roos with 15 kills and added 11 digs, while
Shea Norton (Batavia, NY) and
Haley Riley (Lowville, NY) posted 13 putdowns apiece.
Jenna Roat (Penfield, NY) paced the team defensively with 16 digs, while
Peyton Robinson (Bloomfield, NY) recorded 44 assists and
Morgan Wicks (Hartford, NY) added nine digs.

SUNY Canton outhit the Soaring Eagles with 25 kills compared to just 14 for Elmira over the opening two sets. The Soaring Eagles battled back limiting Canton to just four kills in the third set and despite the Roos hitting .310 (11-2-29) visiting EC was able to knot the game at two sets apiece with a 25-23 fourth frame win. The Roos maintained their composure with 12 kills to lift SUNY Canton to the 15-11 win in the decisive fifth set.

Match 2 – Box Score
SUNY Canton jumped out to a 13-5 advantage in the opening set and cruised to a 25-12 opening set victory. Keuka hung closer in the second set but the Roos were able to open a 16-10 advantage on their way to a 25-17 second set win. SUNY Canton earned the sweep closing out the match 25-15 in the third frame.

Cornish led the attack with 12 kills while Riley added 10 putdowns and three aces. Wicks was strong from the service line with five aces to go with eight digs, while Robinson assisted on 33 kills. Norton added seven kills and Roat recorded 10 digs, her 18th double digit dig performance of the season. Riley was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance this weekend.
