Annorh Eclipses 1,000 Career Points as Men’s Hoops Shoots Past Pioneers, 87-77

Canton, NY – Junior Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) scored 22 points and added eight assists as he eclipsed the 1,000 career point scoring milestone in an 87-77 win for the SUNY Canton men's basketball team as they hosted Alfred State College on Wednesday evening in the Roos House.

Annorh buried a three-pointer from the right wing 4:17 into the second half to jump from 999 points to 1,002 points scored in his career. The long ball was his second after halftime and gave the Roos a 20 point lead at 59-39.

Annorh finished with a game-high 22 points along with his eight assists and five rebounds, while Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) added 19 points off the bench.

Walt Jeter (Fort Drum, NY) gave the Roos a huge scoring lift as he hit for 17 points on just six shot attempts from the field. The sophomore was 5-for-6 from long range and hit both of his free throw attempts. Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) tallied 12 points and seven rebounds for SUNY Canton.

Justin Wallace led the Pioneers (4-14) with 15 points and seven rebounds, while D'ondre Davis and Marvin Cyrus added 12 points apiece. Dante Jordan also chipped in with 10 points for Alfred State.

SUNY Canton (11-2) led from start to finish opening up an 18-13 advantage 11 minutes into the contest. The Roos closed the final 4:22 of the half on an 18-9 run to take a commanding 47-31 lead into intermission.

The Roos would extend their lead to as many as 23 with 14:04 remaining in the contest but Alfred State battled back trimming the deficit to single digits at 71-62 with 7:46 remaining. However, SUNY Canton recovered down the stretch to hold on to the 10 point victory.
