The Story of Trudy Davis at SUNY Canton’s Special Olympics

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton Athletics department has hosted the North Country Region Special Olympics for the last three years. There are numerous different events that take place, one of which is basketball.

The Canton Shamrocks have won the event all three years it has taken place at SUNY Canton including the State Games gold medal. Trudy Davis, one of just two females on the team, has made a tremendous impact on everyone she has come into contact with from fellow Special Olympians to coaches and volunteers. Trudy's story isn't one made of eye catching headlines, but it's one that has a lesson for all of us. It's the story of why we play the game and what it means to be a teammate on and off court.
