Box ScoreCanton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team dropped an 8-0 decision to nationally-ranked powerhouse Plattsburgh State on Wednesday evening at the Roos House.
The Roos (7-15-1) honored former player and National Junior College Athletic Association All-American Danny Brown prior to tonight's game. Brown is a 1977 alum of SUNY Canton and 1979 graduate of Plattsburgh State. Brown was legendary coach Terry Martin's first Canadian recruit at Canton.
Come game-time the teams battled back-and-forth early. The visiting Cardinals (17-5-1) broke through at 7:07 of the first on a snipe from Anthony Calabrese, his fourth goal of the season. Mark Constantine made it 2-0 Cards at the 13:38 mark as Plattsburgh took a 2-0 lead into first intermission.
The No. 9 Cardinals added three goals each in the second and third periods for the 8-0 final. Constantine and Connor Gorman led Plattsburgh with three points each.
Louie Puig (Chicago, IL) stopped 26 shots in net, while
Christopher Marsillo (Lincroft, NJ) turned aside six shots in relief. Brady Rouleau earned his fourth shutout of the season for the visitors making 20 saves.
Thomas Crabtree (Knoxville, TN) and
George Curry (Schaumburg, IL) paced the SUNY Canton offense with four shots apiece.
