CHS BOX SCORE

Cortland, NY – Eric Witzel (Ottawa, ON) and Kyle Matsumoto (Walnut, CA) tallied three points each as the SUNY Canton men's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie v. SUNY Cortland on Saturday evening.

The Red Dragons (2-3-2) opened the scoring at 12:08 of the first as Ryan Wagner fired a one-timer from the right circle that rang off the post and in to give the hosts the early lead on the power play.

The Roos responded with two goals in the second period off a pair of wrist shots from Witzel and Kasey Kulczycki (Laval, QUE) at 4:55 and 10:57, respectively. SUNY Canton took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

Shane Bennett tied the game at two with his team-best fourth goal of the season on a wrist shot from the slot through traffic. Sam Pinsler helped Cortland regain the lead at 3-2 scoring off a loose puck in front at 5:28 of the third.
Ben Beasley sent the game into overtime at 13:24 when his sharp-angled shot from the right side eluded Cortland goaltender Kollyn Jones. Each team recorded two shots in the five minute overtime.

Josh Erickson (Woodbury, MN) stopped 25 shots on the night, while Drew Weigman made seven saves for the Red Dragons before Jones replaced him to make 17 stops.
