SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Opens Play Friday Night in Potsdam

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team returns 11 players from last year's team that went 16-6 and had the most successful season in 17 years. Head Coach Jim Bechtel welcomes three new players to the team during the 2015-16 season as he looks to continue the tremendous growth of the program.

"We're very excited about the group we have this year. This will be the most experience team we've had at Canton since I've been here. The guys have been working really hard this preseason and we're looking forward to having a great year.
The Roos return their top five leading scorers paced by point guard Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) who averaged 17.0 points and 4.2 assists per game last season. Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) and Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) both averaged double figure points with 11.8 and 10.0 points per outing, respectively, while combining to haul down 13.6 rebounds per game.

Kam Peterkin (Harlem, NY) and Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) also gave the Roos key lifts off the bench averaging 6.9 and 6.1 points per game last season. The Roos put together a seven game winning streak last season including winning 11 of 12 contests.

2015 SCHEDULE                 2015 ROSTER

SUNY Canton will play a 25 game schedule during the 2015-16 season including nine home contests. The Roos will open their season at the North Country Tip-off Tournament hosted by SUNY Potsdam.
