Curry Scores Twice as Men’s Hockey Upends Becker 4-1

Malborough, MA – George Curry (Schaumburg, IL) scored his third and fourth goals of the season including the eventual game-winner as the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team picked up a 4-1 road win on Sunday evening against Becker College.

Nick Vasilopoulos (Montreal, QC) opened the scoring at the 4:31 mark of the first period off passes from Logan McDougall (Saranac Lake, NY) and Kyle Matsumoto (Walnut, CA). The Hawks knotted the game at one two minutes later when Antonio Baccari netted his first of the season.

Curry lit the lamp for the first time of the night with 1:09 remaining in a 2-on-1 situation depositing a wrist shot past Hawks netminder Tyle Stepke. The Roos led 2-1 after the first period. Sam McLaughlin (Ottawa, ON) and Brandon McMartin (Toronto, ON) picked up helpers on the play.

Top Roo point scorer Eric Witzel (Ottawa, ON) gave SUNY Canton a two-goal cushion at 12:49 of the second off passes from Dave Schneider (Indianapolis, IN) and Josh Sova (Oswego, NY). Curry added an insurance goal with just less than five minutes to play for the 4-1 final.

Spencer Landry (New Hartford, NY) stopped 25 shots between the pipes for SUNY Canton, while Stepke made 33 saves for the Hawks. The Roos will open their four game homestand on Friday when they hosts Morrisville State College at 7:00 p.m. in the Roos House.
