Early Kinder Goal Doesn’t Hold up in Road Tilt at Buffalo State

Buffalo, NY – Sydney Kinder (New York, NY) found the back of the net just 24 seconds into the contest to give the women's ice hockey team an early lead but host Buffalo State responded with four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory on Friday evening.

Kinder netted her second goal in the last three games off a pass from Lora Ardoin (Houston, TX), her team-leading sixth helper of the season. The Bengals (6-5-2) knotted the game at one at the 3:23 mark of the first as Bri Carroll lit the lamp for the third time this season.

Kara Goodwin would add her 10th and 11th scores of the year three minutes and 10 seconds apart to open a two goal advantage. Erin Gehen added an insurance goal at 13:43 as Buffalo State took a 4-1 advantage into first intermission.

Neither team would find the back of the net the remainder of the game despite eight penalties in the final frame. The teams combined to go 0-for-11 on the power play in the contest.

Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) made 11 stops in the first period, while Peyton Stafne (St. Louis Park, MN) turned aside 22 shots over the final 40 minutes. Justine Silva stopped 16 Roo shots in the win for the Bengals. Margret Troiano (Morristown, NY) produced nearly half of SUNY Canton's shots on goal finishing with eight in the game.
