Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team was defeated for the first time in 2014 dropping a 4-0 decision to host SUNY Potsdam Wednesday afternoon. The Roos move to 3-1-0 on the season, while the Bears improve to 4-1-1.
Eduardo Figueroa got the scoring started in the 33rd minute when he took a connecting pass from Stephen Auyer and beat SUNY Canton goalkeeper
Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) to make it 1-0. The Bears took the one-goal lead into intermission.
Just three minutes out of halftime the Bears added a second score when Cliff Bondi buried a rebound out in front of net. Early in the 51st minute Johnny Zator tacked on another off a cross in front of goal. Alex Minsker added an extra insurance goal at the 57:49 mark for the 4-0 final.
The Bears controlled possession outshooting SUNY Canton 11-2 in shots on target. Lamay turned aside seven shots in the opening 65:17, while classmate
Patrick Anunziatta (Schenectady, NY) saw his first action of the season clocking the final 24:43 without facing a shot. Jesse Kohler made two saves for the Bears earning the win in his first start.
