Men’s Basketball Closes out Season with Fourth Straight Win



Alfred, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team closed out its 2013-14 season with its fourth straight win defeating host Alfred State College, 65-49, Sunday evening. The Roos also won four straight games at the end of last season.
 
The teams exchanged the lead over the first 10 minutes of play but it was the Roos who outscored the Pioneers 13-3 over the final 9:03 of the half to take a 30-20 lead into intermission. Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) scored all 14 of his points before the break shooting 5-for-8 from the field. Tommy Hutson led the hosts with nine in the opening 20 minutes.
 
The Roos continued to apply pressure opening their lead to its largest of the game at 25 (49-24) with 11:59 to play. SUNY Canton controlled the game down the stretch cruising to the 16-point victory.
 
Bratton led all scorers with 14 points, while Scott Dixon (Brooklyn, NY) and Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Dixon and Fletcher tied for a game-high eight rebounds. All 12 players played at least six minutes with 10 Roos scoring in the game.
 
Hutson was the only scorer in double figures for Alfred State with 10 points. The Roo reserves held a 31-24 advantage over their counterparts, while SUNY Canton outrebounded the Pioneers 47-40 overall and 18-13 on the offensive glass.
