Carroll Nets First of Season in Road Tilt at Nichols

Dudley, MA – Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) scored her first goal of the season and Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) stopped 40 shots but the women's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to host Nichols College on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Bison (4-5-0) took an early 2-0 lead after a pair of first period goals, the first of which came with the extra skater. The Roos (1-6-0) responded early in the second period when Carroll netted her first of the season at the 2:49 mark. Steph Kushnir (Goshen, NY) and Margret Troiano(Morristown, NY were credited with assists on the play.
 
SUNY Canton was whistled for a slashing penalty at the 4:01 mark and 44 seconds later the Bison power play unit was effective once again as Grace Murphy found the back of the net. Alyssa Bufis added an unassisted marker at 11:04 as the Bison took a 4-1 lead into second intermission.
 
The Bison added another score in the first minute of the third period but sophomore Lora Ardoin (Houston, TX) made it 5-2 when Alicia Eamon (Williamstown, ON) played a pass to the captain at the 12:52 mark.
 
DiNardo turned in another strong performance between the pipes turning aside 40 Bison shots, while Lindsay O'Connell made 16 saves for Nichols. Carroll led the Roos with four shots, while Ardoin and Maddy Hetman (Troy, NY) each challenged O'Connell three times.
 
The women's hockey team returns to their home ice on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they host the University of New England in the Roos House.
