Milton, MA – The SUNY Canton offense struggled as it was shutout for just the second time all season falling, 4-0, to host Curry College Thursday evening.
The hosts started the scoring 4:12 into the first period when Brad Devereaux tallied his fourth of the season off passes from Brandon Gilmore and Michael Vallescuro. The extra skater paid off for the Colonels (5-9-2) four minutes later when Sean Nelson took a pass from Dominic Puntillo and beat Roo net minder
Morgan Barr (Almonte, ON) on the power play. Barr made 12 saves in the opening period as Curry led 2-0 after one.
After neither team found the back of the net for the first 17 minutes of the second period Curry used two late scores to blow open a 4-0 lead after the second period. Shane Harrington registered his second goal of the season at the 17:21 mark off passes from Joe Scarfo and Jordan Reed. Gilmore added his second point of the game as he netted a power play marker. Vallescuro and Devereaux were credited with assists on the play.
The teams played to a scoreless third period resulting in the 4-0 final. Barr stopped 37 shots for SUNY Canton (3-14-2), while Derek Mohney made 25 saves in the shutout for Curry. The Colonels were 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Roos were 0-for-4 with the extra skater.
