Leach Nets Lone Goal in Roos Loss to Skidmore in Lake Placid

Lake Placid, NY – Kristian Leach (Indianapolis, IN) scored the lone SUNY Canton goal as the men's ice hockey team fell, 11-1, in a neutral site contest to Skidmore College at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. The Roos fall to 0-1-1, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 1-0-0.
 
Aaron Beck led the way for Skidmore with two goals and two assists on the night. The Thoroughbreds opened up a 3-0 lead just nine minutes into the contest. However, the Roos responded just eight seconds after Skidmore's third goal when Dave Schneider (Indianapolis, IN) found teammate Leach who lit the lamp to get the Roos within two at 3-1. Skidmore tacked on two more scores to take the 5-1 lead after one.
 
The Thoroughbreds continued to poor on the pressure tallying a power play marker just over a minute into the second frame. Skidmore would add three more goals in the second period to make it 9-1 after two. SUNY Canton looked to keep the game within reach but two third period markers for Skidmore resulted in the 11-1 final.
 
Morgan Barr (Almonte, ONT), Louie Puig (Chicago, IL) and Christopher Marsillo (Lincroft, NJ) all split time in net for the Roos. Barr stopped 11 shots in 16:31, Puig made seven saves in 23:29 and Marsillo turned aside six shots in the final period.
 
Ben Freiberg made six saves in the start for Skidmore, while Jack McDonald and Spencer Sodokoff made nine and three saves, respectively for the Thoroughbreds.
