Union, NJ – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team disposed of a pair of opponents in convincing fashion Saturday on day two of the Kean Invitational. The Roos (18-3) cruised past Centenary College 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-9) before handling Brooklyn College 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-21).
In its opening match against Centenary the Roos played brilliant team ball completely dominating its foe outscoring the Cyclones 45-12 including a 28-10 kills advantage in the match. SUNY Canton tallied a match-high 11 kills in the opening set and had at least seven kills in each set.
Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) set the tone offensively with 10 kills on a .529 attack percentage.
Lindsay Bryer (Wilson, NY) floored seven kills to go with her match-high five services aces, while
Emily Thomas (Horseheads, NY) stepped up with seven digs and four aces.
Kiana Archer (Plattsburgh, NY) was the catalyst offensively setting up a match-best 15 kills over three sets.
The Roos dictated play once again in their second match against Brooklyn outscoring the Bulldogs 56-21 and holding impressive edges in kills (41-16) and hitting percentage (.225 - .049). SUNY Canton was on fire in a second set win where they tallied 17 kills, the second most in any frame this season.
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) produced a match-best eight kills to go with eight digs.
Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) put her stamp on the match all over the floor finishing with a match-best 26 assists along with seven digs and six kills.
Rachel Lowther (Woodbridge, VA) came up with a strong performance tallying seven kills on just nine attack attempts (.667 hitting percentage). Archer dished out 11 assists and added three digs.
Mynter and Bryer were named to the All-Tournament team for SUNY Canton.
