Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team improved its record to 21-3 with a pair of sweeps against visiting University of Maine – Fort Kent and Morrisville State on Saturday at the Roos House. The Kangaroos defeated the Bengals, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-14), before spiking past the Mustangs, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-13).

The Roos got out to a quick 6-0 start in their opening match against Maine-Fort Kent and opened a commanding 17-5 lead. The Bengals would close the deficit late but SUNY Canton cruised to a 25-14 win in the first. UMFK took an early 8-7 lead in the second frame but the Roos rattled off 11 consecutive points to take a commanding 18-8 advantage. The hosts spread the floor and used crisp passing and strong hitting to finish the set, 25-12. SUNY Canton continued to control play as they rolled in the third, 25-14, to complete the sweep.

Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) led all players with 15 kills on a .353 hitting percentage. Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) dished out 28 assists to go with her seven kills hitting a phenomenal .700 on attack attempts. Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, Ontario) led the team digging up 14 balls.

SUNY Canton continued its impressive play in its second match easily getting past Morrisville State in straight sets. The Roos had 29 kills in the match compared to just 18 for the Mustangs. The hosts had a .247 team hitting percentage, while Morrisville hit just .036 on 56 attack attempts.

The Roos featured a balanced offensive attack that included eight kills from Cornish, seven from Lindsay Bryer (Wilson, NY) and six from Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, Ontario). Carroll was impressive from the service line tallying eight aces to go with her six digs. Mynter assisted a match-high 24 kills while Bryer, Mynter and Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, NY) each tallied two block assists.
