Roos Sweep Elms and Paul Smith's

(Plattsburgh, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team swept both of their matches on day two of the SUNY Plattsburgh tournament on Saturday beating Elms College 3-0 and Paul Smith's College 3-0.

The Roos improved to 7-6 overall and have now won seven of their last nine matches.  SUNY Canton beat Elms 25-19, 25-15, and 25-10 and then overwhelmed the Bobcats 25-2, 25-9 and 25-15.

"I am very proud of the way our team rebounded from Friday's losses," said head coach Carol LaMarche.  "It shows a lot of heart."

Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, Ontario) was named to the all-tournament team as she had nine kills, seven digs and three assists on Saturday.

Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, N.Y.) registered 24 assists against Elms and had 16 assists and two blocks against Paul Smith's.  Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) had nine kills against Elms.  Amanda Brown (Massena, N.Y.) had four blocks in the first match and pounded down eight kills in the second match.  Shiloh Bourgeois (Keesville, N.Y.) notched 10 service aces versus Paul Smith's and Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, N.Y.) added six kills, six aces and four digs.

The Roos will host their first home matches of the season next Saturday, Sept. 24 in a tri-match with Paul Smith's and Johnson State.  The Roos take on the Bobcats for the third time this year at 11 a.m. and face Johnson State at 4 p.m.
