Volleyball Shuts out Presque Isle and Fort Kent

(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team shut out the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the University of Maine at Fort Kent for the second day in a row on Saturday.

The Roos, who have now won five matches in a row, beat Presque Isle 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-15) and Fort Kent 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-21).  

"The entire team worked extremely hard this weekend," said head coach Carol LaMarche.  "I am proud of the girl's focus and effort through all four matches."

In the opening match against Presque Isle, Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, N.Y.) recorded 20 assists and nine kills.  Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, Ontario) notched 11 kills.  Abbey Shoen (Waddington, N.Y.) added four kills, three aces and two blocks, and Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, N.Y.) contributed eight kills and two aces.

In the next match against Fort Kent, Myntner passed out 16 more assists and added five aces.  Reynolds pounded down 10 kills with three aces.  Shiloh Bourgeois (Keesville, N.Y.) had six kills and Erin Blodgett (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) chipped in with three aces.

SUNY Canton is next in action when they'll play in the SUNY Plattsburgh Tournament next weekend.  The Roos will face St. Michael's College and SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Sept. 16 and Elms College and Paul Smith's College on Saturday, Sept. 17.
