(Oswego, N.Y.) – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team came away with a split on the opening day of the Oswego State College tournament beating Utica College 3-0 before falling to Brockport State 3-0 on Friday.
The Roos, who are ranked seventh in the latest USCAA Coaches Poll , have won six of their last nine matches and moved to 11-9 overall. They swept Utica for the second time in the past week with a 25-7, 25-19, 25-19 victory and then lost their second match of the day to Brockport 17-25, 18-25, 18-25.
Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, N.Y.) distributed 25 assists and nailed four kills in the win over the Pioneers.
Jessica Reynolds (Churchville, Ontario) pounded down a team-leading 12 kills along with four service aces and four digs.
Amanda Brown (Massena, N.Y.) added nine kills in the win.
Mynter had 10 more assists against Brockport. Reynolds finished with four kills and six digs and Brown added three kills.
The Roos will face Morrisville State College on Saturday in the second round at 10 a.m. and then SUNYIT at 12 p.m.
