(Manchester, N.H.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team rebounded from a Friday night loss to skate past Southern New Hampshire University 4-3 Saturday night in Manchester, N.H.
The Roos moved 9-2 overall and will wrap up their New England trip on Sunday with a game against Daniel Webster College at 11 a.m.
Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) got the Roos off to a good start on Saturday when he netted his first goal of the year at the 4:04 mark of the first period from
Connor Every-Andrews (Summerville, S.C.) and JP Boucha (Warroad, Minn.).
Adam Fedor (Orleans, Ontario) put SUNY Canton ahead 2-0 when he scored his ninth of the year and third power play tally just under two minutes later from
Cory Bercume (Potsdam, N.Y.) and
Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.).
The Penmen got one back to trim the lead to 2-1 with a goal with 3:52 left in the opening period.
Dan Cibelli (Syracuse, N.Y.) then stretched the lead back to 3-1 when he connected for his second goal of the year from Boucha and
Chris Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.) at the 9:13 mark of the second period.
Southern New Hampshire again pulled within one with a goal at 3:52 into the third but
Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) responded a minute later scoring an unassisted power play goal for another two-goal lead.
The Penmen made it close when they connected on the power play with 57 seconds left in the game but the Roos were able to hold on for the win.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) stopped 31 shots for the Roos to collect his seventh win of the year.
Tyler Holsky and John Carboneau split time in goal. Holsky had 15 saves and Carboneau had 12.
