(Worcester, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team lost to Becker College (Mass.) 5-2 in the consolation game of the Assumption College Holiday Tournament Wedensday night in Worcester, Mass. The Roos saw their record even out at 10-10 while the Hawks improved to 6-6-1.
SUNY Canton grabbed a slim lead early in the second period after a scoreless first period when
Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) scored from
Kristian Daley (Canton, N.Y.) and
Adam Fedor (Orleans, Ontario) at the 2:28 mark.
Becker countered with three straight goals, two from Jeremy Narduci, to gain a two-goal advantage.
Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.), who led the Roos in scoring last year but was ineligible first semester, scored his first goal of the year with 4:01 left in the second period off assists to
Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) and
Corey Frizell (Orleans, Ontario) to climb within one goal. But the Roos couldn't find the net again in the third period and the Hawks pumped in two more goals to claim the win.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) stopped 26 of 31 shots in goal for the Roos and senior defenseman
Scott Zaryski (Oswego, N.Y.) was named to the all-tournament team.
David Graham, Branden Parkhouse and Brian Murray also scored for Becker and Tom Natoli had 20 saves.
