McMorrow had a tremendous first week as a collegiate runner. The freshman from Ireland raced to a first place finish on Tuesday at the Kangaroo Invitational in her first race ever. She had never run a cross country race in her life prior to Tuesday, covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 20:56 to finish first in the 44-runner field.
 
The rookie followed that performance up with a second place showing out of a 68-runner field at the Southern Vermont College Invitational on Saturday. She finished just 12 seconds behind the overall winner.
