Cree was a force as the Roos made history on Friday defeating visiting Sacred Heart University, 3-2, at the Roos House. The victory was the first for any SUNY Canton team against a varsity NCAA Division I opponent. The sophomore forward had a hand in all three scores. The Roos struck first 12:52 into the opening period on Cree's eighth score of the season. Jessica Kistabish (Pikogan, QUE) skated the puck into the offensive zone and fired an initial shot that was turned aside by Pioneer goaltender Alexius Schutt. Cree followed up with a rebound goal beating Schutt low past her glove side for the 1-0 lead.
Cree fed the puck up to Dana Morrison (Wemindji, QUE) at mid-ice who skated in on the breakaway beating Schutt to make it 2-1 SUNY Canton. The Hogansburg, NY native added an assist on Kistabish’s power play game-winning goal in the third period. Cree was also 17-for-25 in the faceoff circle in the win.
The women's hockey team returns to the ice Tuesday when it travels to Clinton, NY to take on Hamilton College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
