Teresa Minckler enters her 20th year as a member of the SUNY Canton Athletics department during the 2024-25 academic year. 

She was promoted to associate athletic director in the summer of 2011.

Minckler is in charge of all business-related matters for the athletic department. She is responsible for the athletic budget, purchasing, and inventory control for the 15 intercollegiate programs and staff.  

Minckler, a native of Gouverneur, N.Y., was also the head women’s soccer coach at SUNY Canton for three years from 2005-07.  She was named the Mid-State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2006 and guided SUNY Canton into the quarterfinals of the Region 3 tournament. She led the Roos into their first season as a four-year program in 2007, where they won the Sunrise Conference Championship and earned a berth into the NAIA national tournament. The 2007 team finished with a perfect 12-0 conference record. 

Minckler was a three-sport standout at Gouverneur Central High School where she lettered in soccer, basketball and volleyball. During her high school career, she surpassed the 1,000 point mark in basketball. She was inducted into her high school's Hall of Fame. 

At the junior college level she played basketball and soccer for Mater Dei College. Minckler was named Region 3 Player of the Year and received Honorable Mention All-American honors in basketball. She was also named Most Valuable Player in soccer.  

Following her junior college career, Minckler accepted a basketball scholarship to Division II UNC-Pembroke in North Carolina, where she was a standout guard for two years and named captain of the team her senior year. She became a student assistant coach for the Braves in her final year while staying to earn her B.S. in Athletic Training. Minckler also earned her Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY Potsdam.

Minckler currently lives in Gouverneur with her husband Jim and sons JD and Paul.
