Cam Talcott

Cam Talcott was named the next head coach of the SUNY Canton men’s lacrosse program on January 28, 2026.

Talcott spent the past three seasons as the assistant men’s lacrosse coach at SUNY Potsdam and also assisted the Potsdam High School boys’ varsity program for one season. He helped the Bears record winning records during both the 2024 and 2025 seasons including a SUNYAC Tournament championship appearance during the 2024 season after winning 10 games as Potsdam upset top-seeded Cortland 8-7 on the road in the playoffs.

“Cam’s experience at a fellow SUNYAC institution like Potsdam will serve him well as he takes the reigns of our men’s lacrosse program here at Canton,” Athletic Director Randy Sieminski said at the time of his hiring. “Growing up in the North Country in Potsdam and then playing and coaching at SUNY Potsdam, Cam is extremely familiar with the area and our conference and knows what it takes to recruit talented student-athletes to our school. I am looking forward to him hitting the ground running getting our team ready for the 2026 season.”

Talcott was a four-year standout and two-year captain as a player for the Bears. He appeared in 42 games at attack registering 81 career points on 61 goals and 20 assists scoring four game-winning goals. As a junior following the 2021 season, he was named Second Team All-SUNYAC.

“I would like to thank Randy Sieminski and the rest of search committee for trusting me to be the next head men’s lacrosse coach at SUNY Canton,” Talcott said when hired. “Growing up in the North Country I have seen firsthand the growth of the SUNY Canton men’s lacrosse team and athletics department as a whole at the school. I am looking forward to getting started right away in preparation for the 2026 season.”

Talcott earned his bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from SUNY Potsdam. He was a three-sport athlete at Potsdam High School playing lacrosse, football and hockey for the Sandstoners where he was named the Booster Club Male Athlete of the Year.
