Taylor Wasylk enters her first season as the Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach during the 2015-16 season with the Roos.
Wasylk joins the SUNY Canton coaching staff after a four-year playing career with the Boston College women’s ice hockey team and one year as an assistant coach at UMass Boston. While at BC, Wasylk led the Eagles to three NCAA Division I “Frozen Four” appearances, two Beanpot Championships, a Nutmeg Classic Championship, and two Hockey East titles. She was also named the 2014 Hockey East Best Defensive Forward, a four-time Pro Ambitions Rookie honoree, the 2014 Beanpot Tournament MVP, and a four-time Hockey East Offensive Player honoree.
“Taylor’s hockey background, both as a player and as a coach, has given her a great knowledge of the game,” Head Coach Dave LaBaff said. “That combined with her passion and work ethic will be a great benefit to our team both now and in the future.”
When not training with the Eagles, Wasylk also traveled with Team USA Under-18 and Under-22 and senior-level national teams. She would compete with all three teams at multiple World Championship Tournaments. Involved heavily in community service projects, Wasylk worked with a variety of groups including the New Special Athletes, the Massachusetts Hospital School, Food for Families, and Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Wasylk graduated from BC in 2014 with Bachelor of Arts in History. She also minored in International Studies with a concentration in International Cooperation and Conflict.
Prior to graduating from BC she would was named the recipient of the Athletic Director’s Award for Academic Achievement, and was selected to the Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll. She also studied abroad in London, England in the summer of 2014.
