Christie Cicero joins the SUNY Canton women’s ice hockey coaching staff in her first season as the assistant coach. Cicero, a 2014 graduate of NCAA Division I Mercyhurst College, played four seasons of ice hockey for the Lakers, including serving as assistant captain during her senior season.

Cicero appeared in 131 contests during her time at Mercyhurst posting 100 points on 44 goals and 56 assists. She recorded her 100th career point scoring the lone Laker goal in the CHA Championship game against Rochester Institute of Technology in a 2-1 double overtime loss. The Lakers earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for a record 10th consecutive time in 2014, as the squad made the tournament all four years Cicero was in uniform. The team lost in the national semifinals to eventual national champion Clarkson University in 2014. Cicero and the Lakers compiled a 105-3-8 record during her four seasons on campus.

Prior to Mercyhurst Cicero led the New Jersey Rockets to a 31-15-3 record during the 2009-10 season. She was elected team captain and scored a league-leading 84 goals and dished out 30 assists to accumulate 114 points.

Cicero earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2014 from Mercyhurst College. She will also spend time working in the Roos House Fitness Center.
