TiAna Jones enters her first season as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at SUNY Canton for the 2019-20 season.
Jones has extensive experience in basketball coaching and operations. She joins the Roos following her time serving as the associate head manager for the Drexel University women’s basketball program for four seasons while completing her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. She also earned minors in Business Administration and Communications.
“I am very excited that TiAna has decided to join our staff here at SUNY Canton,” Ward said. “Her experience in Division I basketball and her knowledge of the game set her apart from the other candidates. She will be a tremendous asset for the women’s basketball program in all aspects of the job.”
Jones also has experience as an assistant to basketball operations in scouting with EV Hoops since November 2014. She evaluated in-game performance and statistics of potential NBA prospects. While at Drexel she served as a lead facilities supervisor for five locations in the athletic and recreational complex.
“I am excited to join SUNY Canton because it is an up-and-coming program that I feel can do something special in the near future,” Jones said. “I am from New York City so after living between Philadelphia and Florida for five years, I was excited to get back to my home state and work with student-athletes in a system I am familiar with.”
Jones interned while doing her undergraduate work as a communications intern with Duane Morris LLP in 2018. While there she wrote, edited and reviewed marketing content and worked with the firm’s social media accounts. Jones was a head coach for the ML Gators in the greater New York City area coaching a group of 10 middle school student-athletes in a summer tournament in 2017. The NYC native also spent time as an intern to the Assistant Athletic Director at Pace High School and was a volunteer assistant girls’ basketball coach in 2016.
