Lewis enters her second season as the leader of the softball program for the 2020 season.
During the 2019 season Lewis led the Roos to fifth place finish in team’s first season as a member of the North Atlantic Conference. She and the staff mentored three All-Conference players, including NAC First Team All-Conference recipient Valerie Clark. The Roos saw their ERA drop by 2.01 runs per game and their RBI production increase by 26 runs. Seven players hit above .300, and the squad almost doubled the number of home runs hit. The 2019 Roos more than doubled the number of bags swiped and more than quadrupled the number of times they took a hit by pitch for their team at the plate.
“I am extremely proud of the effort our team put in throughout the 2018-2019 year,” Lewis said. “The willingness to embrace change, overall drive, and excitement of our returning players to continue to improve our program is contagious. It pairs perfectly with the work ethic and championship experience that our incoming class will bring to the program.”
Prior to Canton, Lewis was an assistant coach with Division I Holy Cross of the Patriot League. While working with the Crusaders she was primarily responsible for assisting the pitching staff and outfielders. Prior to her time in Worcester, MA, Lewis served as an assistant coach at NCAA D-III Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. The Lynx finished with a winning record, doubled their wins in conference play and two members of the pitching staff earned All-Conference honors.
As an undergraduate, Lewis began her career by playing two seasons at D-II LIU Post. She posted a 1.28 earned run average and ranked second in the nation with eight saves, while helping the team to an appearance in the D-II College World Series. Lewis then transferred to D-II Shippensburg University where she posted a 2.94 earned run average before having her career cut short due to injury.
Lewis is also the owner/operator of Diamond Dynamics Softball LLC, providing softball lessons, camps, and clinics throughout the North Country, Northeast region, and Canada. (You can find them on Facebook at “Diamond Dynamics Softball.”)
Lewis earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Shippensburg University, and a Master's Degree in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University.
