Taylor Baker enters his first season as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach during the 2017-18 academic year.
"I am delighted to have Taylor joining our staff for the coming school year," Head Coach Tim Penrod said. "He is a fantastic young man who had some incredible experiences as a NCAA Division III student-athlete, and I believe he will be a major asset to our players both on and off the field."
Baker recently graduated from Southern Vermont College with a degree in Sports Management. He was a member of Coach Penrod's final recruiting class before Penrod took over in Canton. Over his four years, Baker was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Mountaineer's men's soccer team, and also played two seasons of basketball for the college. During his time as a student-athlete, Baker was one of two student-athletes from the New England Collegiate Conference selected to attend the NCAA convention as conference representatives. He also attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in June of 2017.
Baker will play a role both on and off the field, assisting with team tutoring, recruiting, practice development, and in-game coaching.
"I am honored and excited to become a part of the SUNY Canton Athletic Department and men's soccer staff," Baker said. "I am looking forward to finally getting to work with Coach Penrod and help continue to grow the soccer program that he has established over the last four years."
