- Tom was a three-sport athlete at Moriah competing in three years of football and baseball and two years of bowling
- His football team were Section 7 Champions his junior year
- Tom had a standout senior year that included team MVP in baseball, team MVP in bowling, Division All-Star Center (football), Division Honorable Mention (baseball), Press-Republican First Team All-Star (baseball) and won the Team Sportsmanship award as his football team made the state semifinals.
