PGA Certified Golf Professional Kevin Maginn enters his ninth season coaching the SUNY Canton men's golf team and his fifth at the helm of the women's team during the 2019-20 academic year.
Coach Maginn led the Roo men to a program best second place finish out of the 16 team field at the 2016 USCAAÂ National Championship. Senior Nolan Reid finished in a tie for second place, while Tom Rancour (T-9) and Alex Folts (T-15) were also named USCAA All-Americans. Reid was named the USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season after the Roos placed third at the 2015 National Championships.Â
Maginn has also played a crucial role in the development of the Roos women's program which will compete in its third varsity season during the 2018-19 academic year after forming a club program during the 2015-16 season.
"Kevin’s knowledge and love of the game, along with his incredible teaching resume and nationwide golf contacts,is an invaluable asset to the program and our department," said Athletic Director Randy B. Sieminski. "We’re very happy to have Partridge Run Golf and Country Club as our home course, and it is terrific for our student-athletes to have Kevin there every day as the general manager of the club."
Maginn has been general manager and director of golf at Partridge Run for the past 19 years. He is a Master Teaching Professional certified by the United States Golf Teachers Federation and he earned a Specialty Certification in Instruction from the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. He is currently working towards his Master’s Teaching Certificate from the PGA. He also has earned PGA Specialty Certifications in General Management, Golf Operations, Retail, and Ownership and Leasing.Â
During his time at Partridge Run, Maginn has developed a strong junior and women’s golf program and has operated the Kevin Maginn Golf Academy for the past 10 years.Â
Maginn currently resides in Ogdensburg with his wife Ann.
