Jody Johnston

Johnston begins his 11th year as an assistant coach with the baseball program during the 2020-21 academic year.

The Malone native is a former draft pick with the New York Mets as he was taken with the 53rd pick in 1980 following a stellar career at Franklin Academy.

During his six seasons of pitching in professional baseball, Johnston had a career record of 45-31 plus eight saves.  In 1981 he was named the Best Major League Prospect while with the Shelby Mets and the following year received the Topps Minor League Player of the Month award in July.

Johnston has worked for the ABC Baseball Camps of California and also instructed at other camps in Cooperstown, N.Y. and Burlington, Vt.

He currently serves as the co-Director and assistant coach for the Malone Moose Baseball program and is a Lieutenant with the New York State Department of Corrections where he has worked for 22 years.
