Canton, NY – AJ Campi recorded a pair of hits, drove in a run and earned the save on the mound, while
Alfredo Pabón earned his first career win as the SUNY Canton baseball team earned a 6-5 victory at crosstown St. Lawrence on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second. Sal Diaz stole second and Chris McLean scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Diaz would later score after Jared Paone reached on an error.
- Pabón's first four innings were scoreless, while his counterpart Noah Clausen threw three scoreless innings from the second to the fourth inning.
- Canton extended its lead to three in the fifth frame when Campi plated Jacob Ortiz on an RBI single up the middle.
- The Saints responded with one run each in the fifth and sixth innings to get within 3-2 after six full frames.
- The Roos battled back with two runs in the seventh stanza. Campi doubled with one out and scored on a McLean sacrifice fly. Diaz drew a two out walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Paone RBI single through the left side.
- The Saints added one run each in their at-bats in the seventh and eighth innings as Canton held a 5-4 lead heading to the ninth.
- McLean drew a one out walk and stole second with two outs before scoring on a Lance Phillips Jr. double.
- In St. Lawrence's final at-bats they had the bases loaded with one out. The Saints scored a run on a sacrifice fly, but a base runner was gunned down going from second to third to end the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Campi recorded a single, a double, scored once, drove in a run and earned the save throwing the final two innings on the mound. Eliezer Vázquez and Korbin Lovejoy recorded two hits each, while McLean, Paone and Phillips Jr. registered a hit and drove in a run each.
- Eddie Morrissey and Ethan Harris tallied two hits each for St. Lawrence, while Mike Siano drove in a pair of runs.
- Pabón earned his first career win tossing 5.2 innings giving up two runs with a strike out and walk. Karter Kenniston, Maxwell Rose and Adam Cook were the middle relievers with Campi closing the door over the final two innings.
- Clausen took the loss for the Saints giving up two unearned runs in three innings.
- The win is the first for the Roos against the Saints since a 9-7 win on April 16, 2019. The teams had not played since the 2022 season due to various cancellations due to weather and conference make-up games.
