AJ Campi threw two scoreless innings in relief as the SUNY Canton baseball team split a doubleheader on Monday against the University of Olivet in Myrtle Beach. The Roos won the opener 6-1 before falling 16-1 in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The Comets got the scoring started in the second inning on an Austin Alflen RBI double down the left field line. That hit was the only hit that Guerrero would surrender in five innings on the afternoon.
- The Roos responded with a five spot in the fourth inning. Derek Maldonado got things started as he was hit by a pitch bringing home Lance Phillips Jr. Zack Baiani plated Mark Maybee Jr. on an RBI groundout. Campi kept the inning going with an RBI single through the right side to bring across Jayden Cunningham. Sal Diaz then laced a two RBI double to left center scoring Maldonado and Campi.
- Canton tacked on another run in the fifth on a Maybee Jr. RBI single down the right field line scoring Phillips Jr.
- Guerrero gave up just the one run on one hit and three walks with two strikeouts in five innings of work.
- Campi tossed two scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts and one walk.
- Diaz led the Roos with a double and drove in two runs, while Phillips Jr. also had a double. Campi, Maybee Jr., Baiani and Maldonado drove in one run each.
- Charlie Quilliam took the loss for Olivet surrendering five runs with six strikeouts and two walks in 3.2 innings.
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Comets controlled play in the nightcap producing 16 runs on 17 hits in a 16-1 victory. They scored one run on three hits in the second and exploded for seven runs on three hits and an error but also took advantage of four walks in the third inning.
- UOlivet added one run in the fifth, five in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
- Canton's lone run of the second game came when Campi singled through the left side to bring across Jacob Ortiz in the fifth after Ortiz led off the inning with a base hit up the middle.
- Ortiz led Canton with a pair of hits in the nightcap, while Campi and Diaz had one each.
- Ryan Wiggins went 4-for-5 scoring twice and driving in six runs, while Brady Southfield and Mario Ricard had three hits each for the Comets.
- Austin Wittrock picked up the win for UOlivet tossing six innings with three strikeouts and three walks.
- Aohdan Sjuve took the loss for Canton giving up five earned runs with two walks in two innings.

The Roos are off on Tuesday before continuing their spring break trip with a single nine-inning game against Hilbert on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Griffith Field in Myrtle Beach.
