Ryan Stops Season-High 13 Shots on the Road at Cortland

Cortland, NY – Junior Mackenzie Ryan stopped a season-best 13 shots on the day but Gianna Cirilla and Gigi Piscopiello scored a pair of goals each to lead host Cortland to a 7-0 victory in a SUNYAC women's soccer contest on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cortland opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Jillian Nicolisi played the ball into the right side of the box to Leah Rehm. Rehm played a quick pass across the box to Tyla Vuotto on her left who buried a shot into the open net.
  • The Red Dragons doubled their lead in the 13th minute when Rehm found Cirilla in the center of the box as her right-footed shot found the upper left corner of net.
  • Cortland added a third goal in the 21st minute when Piper Klammer dribbled to the endline on the far sideline and toward net leaving a pass for Cirilla who placed the ball into the open net.
  • The hosts held an 8-0 shots on goal advantage taking a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard to intermission.
  • Cortland tacked on four second half goals with Piscopiello scoring twice and Avery Rich and Jordyn Chrysler netting one each.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Red Dragons held the upper hand in shots (34-0), shots on goal (20-0) and corner kicks (11-0).
  • Ryan made a season-high 13 saves in the loss.
  • Olivia Rouse played the first half earning the win for Cortland, while Breanna Hurley and Paige Markesich split time in the second half for the hosts between the posts.
  • Piscopiello and Cirilla led Cortland with two goals each, while Rehm dished out a pair of assists.
