Hope Aniceto scored a team-high 14 points eclipsing the 1,000 career point milestone in the second half as the Roos took SUNYAC top seed Cortland to the final whistle in a 51-49 loss on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Roos have secured the four seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament and will host a first round game against Plattsburgh on Tuesday (2/25) at 7 p.m. in the Roos House. Cortland has earned the one seed and a first round bye. The Red Dragons will host the semifinals and championship on Friday (2/28) and Saturday (3/1) on their campus.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland jumped out to an early 13-3 lead just over six minutes in and led by as many as 17-6. Canton scored five straight to get within 17-11 as the visitors led 19-11 after the opening quarter.
- The Roos outscored Cortland 11-7 in the second quarter to get within 26-22 at intermission. Natalie Bartle and Sierra Pabo had six points each for Canton, while Brooke Tillotson paced the Red Dragons with 16 first-half points. Â Â Â
- With her eighth point of the game as she got Canton within 33-32 after a made three-pointer with 3:48 left in the third quarter Hope Aniceto eclipsed the 1,000 career scoring milestone. Â
- The Roos outscored Cortland 17-11 in the third to take a 39-37 lead after three quarters of action.
- Canton opened the fourth quarter with three straight points to open a five point lead (42-37). The Red Dragons responded with a 12-2 run to open a five point advantage with 3:58 to play.
- The Roos continued to battle with a 5-0 run as Aniceto hit a corner three in front of the Canton bench to knot things up at 49 apiece with 15 seconds remaining. Jackie Funk scored a bucket in the paint with four seconds left as a late desperation three for Canton was off the mark as the Red Dragons held on for the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Aniceto led the Roos with 14 points hitting four of her seven threes, while Bartle stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and five assists. Pabo tallied eight points and four rebounds, while Torie Moore finished with seven points, six rebounds and three steals.
- Tillotson led Cortland with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Jackie Funk added 11 points and four rebounds.
- The Red Dragons controlled rebounds (44-27) and bench points (10-4). Canton had the upper hand in points off turnovers (18-9) and fast break points (13-7).

This concludes the regular season. The Roos will host Plattsburgh in a SUNYAC First Round playoff game on Tuesday, February 25th at 7 p.m. in the Roos House.
