Alyssa Townsley made 34 saves as the SUNY Canton women's hockey defeated SUNY Morrisville 3-1 in a key SUNYAC match up on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, Andzel got the Roos on the board, scoring a power play goal at 3:50 of the second period to give Canton a 1-0 lead. Junior Danika Lalonde and sophomore Isabella Paswaters assisted on the goal.
- Zoe Leas tied the game just before intermission, scoring at 19:52.9 of the second period.
- Cote put the Roos back on top 2-1 midway through the third, converting another power play opportunity. Sophomores Chamonix Jackson and Kylah Small both earned assists on the play.
- Jackson iced the game for Canton, scoring an empty net goal at 18:50 of the third period to seal the 3-1 victory for the Roos.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Andzel's goal was her team leading fifth of the season. Lalonde's assist gives her nine points on the year, good enough for second on the team behind Andzel's 11 points.
- Canton was 2/4 on the power play and a perfect 1/1 on the penalty kill.
- The Roos had a 39-20 edge at the faceoff dot with freshman Taryn Oloriz leading the way with 16 wins.
- Townsley came up huge, allowing just one goal on 35 shots while Sydney Canham making 27 stops for the Mustangs.s
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos will play at Morrisville again tomorrow, Saturday, February 22nd at 3:00 p.m. If Canton wins or ties, they will secure the fourth and final spot in the SUNYAC playoffs.
