Canton, NY – Kate Grainger, a junior on the women's basketball team, and
Kylah Small, a junior on the women's hockey team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Grainger averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.5 assists in her first two games of the season leading the Roos to a pair of road non-conference wins at SUNY Poly and Russell Sage. She recorded game-highs of 16 points and six steals to go with 11 rebounds and three assists in a 64-39 win at SUNY Poly on Tuesday. Grainger closed out the week with 13 points, a game-high 12 rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 72-51 road win at Russell Sage on Saturday.
Small had a hand in both Canton goals on the weekend registering a goal and assist. She recorded the primary assist on a goal to get the team within 2-1 of an eventual 3-1 loss at Buffalo State on Friday. On Saturday Small tied the game with less than nine seconds left in regulation to force overtime in an eventual 2-1 OT loss at William Smith. She also went 14-for-19 on faceoffs on the weekend (.737 win %).
