Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Adam Todd, Athletic Communications Assistant

Jackson Buries Third, Roos Battle at Alfred State

Alfred, NY – Sophomore Chamonix Jackson scored her team-leading third goal of the season to tie the game, but the SUNY Canton women's soccer team surrendered an early second-half goal and dropped their road game at Alfred State 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Allison Lundmark put the Pioneers on top early, scoring less than four minutes into the contest.  Her goal was assisted by Amelia Rose.
  • As the half wore on, the Roos defense stiffened and Jackson found the back of the net with just over 10 minutes left in the first half to tie the game at one.
  • Canton gave up another early goal, this time to Ava Bruehwiler, just over five minutes into the second half.  Bruehwiler's goal was assisted by Karlee Hargarther and put Alfred State up 2-1.
  • The Roos limited the Pioneers to just two shots on net the rest of the way, but offensively were held to just one shot on goal in the each half.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Jackson's goal was her third in just six games, she currently leads the team in scoring.
  • Senior Gabbie Flynn recorded the other scoring chance for the Roos.
  • Senior Skylar Williams finished with six saves on the day.  Her counterpart Kate Sproul made one stop.

The Roos travel to play Marywood University on September 18th at 7 p.m.
