Canton, NY – Sarah Balcom and
Talor Ferrucci combined for five hits on the day, but the SUNY Canton softball team closed out its season dropping a doubleheader at SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The Bears jumped on the board first with three runs in the first inning of the opener. Canton got two back in the second on a Ferrucci two RBI single up the middle that scored Balcom and Torie Moore.
- Potsdam added one run in the second and fifth innings and three each in the third, fourth and sixth innings for the run-rule win in six innings.
- Canton tacked on one run in the fourth on an RBI ground out from Ferrucci and three more in the fifth. Taryn Morrissey reached on an error that scored Sophia Gundersen, Caitlyn Reed doubled home Morrissey, and Balcom doubled to plate Reed.
- Balcom led the Roos with two hits and an RBI, while Ferrucci had a hit and drove in three runs.
- Kaylee Dobransky and Rebecca Holmes paced the Bear bats with three hits each and combined to drive in three runs. Kelsey Bennett added two hits and three RBI.
- Lexi Cottrill picked up the win for Potsdam tossing five innings allowing three total runs with five strike outs and a walk.
- Reed took the loss allowing 14 runs in 5.1 innings with three walks.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- Potsdam scored once in the first and added three each in the third and fourth innings before putting up two runs in their final at-bats to earn the 9-1 win in five innings in Game 2.
- The Roos lone run came in the fourth when Ace Rogers scored Balcom on a sacrifice fly.
- Balcom, Ferrucci and Morrissey had one hit each for the Roos in the nightcap.
- Bennett led Potsdam with two hits and two RBI.
- Anna Brown earned the win giving up one run with four strike outs and two walks in five innings.
- Reed was credited with the loss allowing nine runs, only three of which were earned with a strike out and two walks.
