Nieto & Rosado Record Hits Against Continentals

Clinton, NY – Frank Nieto and Edilberto Rosado both recorded hits, but the SUNY Canton baseball team dropped a seven inning game at Hamilton College on Friday. The second game was suspended in the top of the fifth inning due to snow and unplayable conditions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
  • Hamilton got on the board with one run in the first inning on an RBI ground out.
  • The Continentals blew open the game with six runs in the second inning with the final three runs being unearned. A three-run homer from Jack Griffin highlighted the inning.
  • The hosts tacked one another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and three more in the fifth on an error, another sac fly and an RBI single.
  • The Roos got on the board in the sixth when John LaPorte reached on an error to score Rosado.
  • Taylor Kaufman, Greg Kopp, Michael Tallarida and Charlie O'Brien all had multi-hit outings for Hamilton.
  • Jack Eshleman threw a complete game win for the hosts tossing seven innings allowing two hits and one run with 11 strike outs and a walk.
  • Hunter LaValley took the loss surrendering four earned runs with two walks in two innings.
 
GAME 2
  • Hamilton scored three runs in the second and one in the third of Friday's nightcap.
  • The snow really started to come down and the Roos rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth before the game was suspended with one out in the fifth inning due to unplayable field conditions due to snow.  
  • According to NCAA rules a game must go five innings to be official, therefore Friday's game two is a no contest and none of the statistics will count.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos have added a doubleheader for Tuesday when they will square off with Hilbert College for two games at Falcon Park in Auburn beginning at 11 a.m.
