Cobleskill, NY – Jayda Pina led the Roos with eight points but NAC West top seed and host SUNY Cobleskill played stifling defense holding SUNY Canton to a season-low 33 points in a 76-33 loss in a NAC Tournament Semifinal contest on Saturday afternoon.
The Roos finish the season 21-6 posting the first 20 win season in the D-III era and the first since the 2006-07 team finished 23-5. The 21 wins surpass last season's mark for most wins in the D-III era by seven as the future looks bright for SUNY Canton women's basketball.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cobleskill jumped out to an early 9-2 lead less than three minutes in. The Roos scored the next four points on a pair of buckets inside from Pina to get within three.
- From there the Fighting Tigers outscored Canton 12-3 the remainder of the quarter to take a 21-9 lead after one.
- The hosts played stifling defense in the second quarter holding Canton scoreless the first 9:50 of the frame as Pina scored the Roos only two points of the quarter with nine seconds left. The Tigers led 36-11 at intermission.
- Cara Walker led all players with 12 first-half points to go with six rebounds. Logan Thayne chipped in nine for the Tigers and Pina paced Canton with six of their 11 points.
- Cobleskill continued to play lockdown defense holding Canton to seven points in the third stanza while putting up 23 points of their own opening up a 59-18 advantage en route to the convincing win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Pina led the Roos with eight points and added three rebounds, while Hope Aniceto, Samantha Dayter and Sierra Pabo had five points each. Pabo was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Roos for her performance over the two days of the tournament.
- Walker led all players with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Cobleskill, while Thayne had 12 points. Antonia May (11) and Annie Canales (10) also reached double figures in scoring.
- Cobleskill shot 52% from the field and 56% from three-point range, while holding Canton to marks of 20% and 10%, respectively.
- The Tigers controlled rebounds (46-28), points in the paint (38-14), points off turnovers (25-8), bench points (23-8), second chance points (10-3) and fast break points (8-3).
- The 33 points scored are the fewest for the Roos in a game this season. Their previous low also came against Cobleskill in a 68-44 loss on December 8th.
