Delhi, NY – Mackenzie Currie had three hits and drove in four runs on the day, but the SUNY Canton softball team dropped both ends of a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader at SUNY Delhi on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The hosts jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the second inning.
- Canton took its first lead of the game with a three-run third inning. Angelina LoPiccolo doubled home Kiley Zicari and Currie hit a two RBI single to bring home Sophia Gundersen and LoPiccolo.
- The Broncos cut the deficit to one with a run in the bottom of the inning.
- The Roos responded with a LoPiccolo RBI single to score Zicari in the fourth regaining a two-run advantage.
- Delhi tied things up with one run each in the fifth and sixth innings as the teams headed to the seventh knotted at 4-4.
- Canton went down in order in their final at-bats. Katelyn Ros drew a leadoff walk for the Broncos and Rhianna Igle singled to center. Gabriella Na reached on a fielder's choice but a throwing error allowed the winning run to score in walk-off fashion.
- Gundersen went 3-for-4 for the Roos in the opener with a double, while LoPiccolo had two hits including a double and two RBI. Currie also drove in a pair of runs and Taryn Morrissey and Zicari had one hit each.
- Igle, Roselyn Monk, Kayla Beers and Riley Martin all had two hits each for the Broncos.
- Ros earned the win on the mound allowing four runs with five strike outs and a walk in the complete game effort.
- Abigail Sawyer took the loss giving up five runs with four walks in six innings.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE

- The Roos held a brief lead in the nightcap on a Currie RBI single scoring Gundersen who reached earlier in the inning on an error.
- The Bronco bats exploded for five runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth on their way to the run-rule win.
- Canton would score twice in the third inning on a Currie RBI double and a Morrisey RBI single.
- Currie and Morrissey finished with two hits each for the Roos and combined to drive in all three runs.
- Monk led the Broncos with three hits, two runs and three RBI.
- Danielle Sey earned the win allowing two earned runs with a walk in five innings.
- Caitlyn Reed took the loss giving up six earned runs with two strike outs and four walks in four innings.

With her three hits on the day Currie now sits third all-time for career hits in the D-III era with 107.

The Roos are currently scheduled to close out their season with a non-conference doubleheader at St. Lawrence at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
